It’s the weekend! Who needs a drink? We sure do. Nothing goes better with a drink or 10 than a good drinking song. We’ve searched around for some of the greatest songs about tossing back a few cold ones. We learned that drinking is pretty popular in country music, and rap music, and punk, and well, all music.
To kick your weekend off right, here are some of the best songs about booze of all time. We would recommend a drinking game where you take a drink every time booze is mentioned, but we don’t want to get sued. Drink up!
10. Tex Ritter – “Rye Whiskey”
Remember when cartoons weren’t all P.C. and little drunken mice would sing this song? We miss the world the way it was.
9. Jimmy Buffet – “Margaritaville”
The official drinking song of middle-aged moms.
8. The Pogues – “Whiskey You’re the Devil”
Irish people singing drinking songs. What will they think of next?
7. George Thorogood – “I Drink Alone”
George, we think you might have a drinking problem. Don’t make us stage an intervention.
6. Dead Kennedys – “Too Drunk to F*ck”
You have to be pretty drunk to not be able to pull this off. Come see us in about 6 hours, and we’ll be there.
5. Snoop Dogg – “Gin and Juice”
This is the most laid back of the drinking songs. Snoop’s just sipping. He’s in no rush. He’s got the whole weekend ahead.
4. John Lee Hooker – “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer”
Is it bourbon before beer, never fear? Or is it beer before bourbon, wake up naked, wearing a turban? Ah, who cares?
3. The Dubliners – “Seven Drunken Nights”
One night of making a drunken fool of yourself isn’t enough. The pros do it seven days a week!
2. Hank Williams, Sr. – “There’s a Tear in My Beer”
No more than one, though. Too many tears will drown the alcohol content.
1. “Beer Beer Beer (Charlie Mops)”
This old Irish drinking song is a full-on history lesson. This song will be required in our forthcoming online course: The History of Beer.
Beer will solve everything just ask President Obama. These sexy funny beer commercials will help get you in the, uh, drinking mood.
