10 Nerdiest Songs Written In Code On Twitter

Monday August 24, 2009 8:00 AM

Twitter trending topics can be pretty inane and boring. Say something that adds absolutely nothing to our lives in less than 140 characters… go! Every once in a while, though, there’s a flash of genius. That’s where Songs In Code comes in. It’s pretty simple. Take your favorite song, and translate it into code. It’s like the charts and graphs but even geekier. It’s even geekier than the Google maps of your favorite album covers.

We’ve collected 10 of the best, the funniest, the most genius translations of songs into code that we found. Give it up for these folks, they really know how to nerd it up!

10. @terrorfall
kickit

Yes, you can!

9. @cubusinaction
education

Hey, teacher! Leave my code alone!

8. @sitepointdotcom
milkshake

Not surprisingly, Kelis makes more sense in code.

7. @skippykawakami
blackvelvet

Give it a minute. You’ll figure it out.

6. @mikkyx
99problems

We feel bad for you son. You’ve got 99 problems, and bad code ain’t one.

5. @sthulbourn
mygeneration

Can you do that? Can you take old, binary songs and update them into modern code? The oldies = now Y2K-compliant.

4. @codemonkey_uk
astley

You just got code-rolled!

3. @AronGamble
billiejean

Sure, but let’s see you do “Thriller.”

2. @KeeperOfTheHDB
hammertime

The only flaw in this code is that it is always, in fact, Hammer Time.

This one wins on account of it’s already one of the nerdiest songs of all time, as evidenced in the list Songs That Made Us Smarter. Taking a nerdy song and making it nerdier sends this submission straight to the top!
