We love the literal videos, here. Recently, we’ve highlighted literal video versions of Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” Biz Markie’s “Just a Friend,” and They Might Be Giants’ “Birdhouse in Your Soul.”
The formula is simple. The more interesting the video, the better the literal video. “Loser” would make an excellent choice, and The Pixies’ “This Monkey’s Gone to Heaven” would make the worst literal video of all time. (It’s a four second long clip of the Pixies climbing down some rocks, slowed down to fit the whole song). “And we’re still climbing down, And we’re still climbing down, And we’re still climbing down, etc.” But “Loser” was made to be a literal video:
