Five Things Better Than the Upcoming Runaways Movie

So, you’re a casting director in Hollywood. You get this job to cast a movie about the most kick ass girl band of all time (next to The Shaggs), and what do you do?

You proceed to cast the most un-rocking cast you can possibly conceive of:
Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie.
Dakota’s New Moon co-star Kristen Stewart as Joan f-in Jett
Alessandra Torresani as Lita Ford.
OK. We have to stop there, or we’ll walk out into the streets and punch old ladies.

We’ve been on this story for a while, and it only gets more painful as we learn about each new cast member.

Ignorance is bliss, though, and we’ve decided that if we pretend the movie doesn’t exist, then it won’t! We learned this in yoga class. “Manifestation,” it’s called, and we’re going to manifestate a world where the only Joan Jett we know is the one that kicked ass, and her only flaw was starring opposite Michael J. Fox in Light of Day.

We thought we knew bad movie music performances before, but this has shed a whole new light on the matter. Here are some of our previous movie music catastrophes that we now greatly prefer to seeing the Runaways movie

Trent Reznor‘s cheesy 80s techno cameo in the aforementioned Light of Day:

Bill Nighy in fictional rock biopic Still Crazy:

Rock and Roll High School Forever.

“Top That” from Teen Witch.

Phantom of the Paradise.
