We Induct The Insanity That Is Jamie Foxx’s "Blame It (On The Alcohol)" Into The Music Comedy Hall Of Fame

Friday May 22, 2009 1:13 PM

We never thought we’d live to see the day where Hype Williams, T-Pain Jake Gyllenhaal, Forest Whitaker, Ron Howard, and Samuel L. Jackson were all credited on the same project. But I guess when Jamie Foxx calls you up and says, “Hey I’m making a super cool music video for my new song, you should totally be in it! And go see my new movie The Soloist! Wait, don’t hang up!” people seem find it hard to say no. That’s what winning an Academy Award can do for someone. Just 10 years ago, Jamie was just that guy with his own sitcom, while Ron Howard was working on pre production for How the Grinch Stole Christmas. And now he can call in whatever favors he wants.

According to a recent interview on The View, Howard said that he agreed to do the music video because he thought “it was going to be some ‘We Are the World’ thing”. Nope. Sorry Ron. It’s a song letting girls know that if they want to hook up with a guy, but don’t want to feel slutty about it, they can just blame it on the fact that they had too much to drink. We’ll save the third wave women’s movement tirade about why a woman should never have to explain herself wanting to get her freak on or drink just to do so, to the feminist blogs out there. Instead we’ll pose the question why did Jamie Foxx want to even ask Ron Howard to be in his video to begin with? Isn’t the first rule of entertaining to know your audience? Anyone old enough to be a Ron Howard fan, probably isn’t watching music videos on YouTube. Sorry was that a little rough? We blame it on the Cof-cof-cof-cof-cof-coffee Bean. We had a little too much to drink this morning. But welcome, Jamie, to the Music Comedy Hall Of Fame. You can put this invisible award right next to your Oscar.
