30 Rock’s "Kidney Now" Benefit Song

Friday May 15, 2009 4:19 PM

In case you missed it, last night’s 30 Rock had Jack Donaghey (Alec Baldwin) trying desperately to find a kidney match for his father Milton Green (Alan Alda) who he’d only recently been reuinted with. A “Kidney Now” benefit? We’re already laughing. Jack wanted, “A benefit concert like ‘We Are the World’ — or “Weird Al” Yankovic’s less successful parody benefit, ‘We Are the Pizza.’” We only wish that second part was true. Regardless, in our opinion Jack totally succeeded.

The song was part who’s who in music today, part “can you recognize that singer/song writer”. The season finale took stunt casting to great heights. Way to go out on top, 30 Rock!

Here’s a list of all of the famous, once famous, and never famous singers. See if you can match the name to the faces:

Sheryl Crow, Adam Levine, Mary J. Blige, Adam Norah Roberts, Sara Bareilles, Moby, Michael McDonald, Wyclef Jean, Steve Earle, Rhett Miller, Robert Randolph, Rachael Yamagata, and Talib Kweli, Cyndi Lauper, Clay Aiken (bonus points for the joke about Clay being Kenneth the Page’s cousin. We’d believe it!), and of course Elvis Costello.
