Kenny Loggins To World: I’m Alright…But My Album Covers Are AWESOME!

Wednesday March 18, 2009 12:26 PM

Whether or not you dig the musical stylings of Kenny Loggins, you WILL dig his album covers. We have never seen so many unintentionally ridiculous album covers from a single artist in the history of music. Adult contemporary artists will come and go, but the legacy of Kenny Loggins’ album covers will leave a “Footloose” footprint on the music industry for generations to come.

And now our top 9 favorite album covers

At # 9 is the 1980 album Kenny Loggins Alive (live)

Next at #8 is Celebrate Me Home. What does that even mean?
More ridiculousness after the jump .

At # 7 The Unimaginable Life. What’s unimaginable is that your record label let you put out this album cover. It looks like you cast yourself in the role of Anne Sullivan in The Miracle Worker.

At #6 Outside The Redwoods. Never in 1993 was flannel worn so “uncoolly” as in this album cover.

#5 December. This one is great because it gives that vibe like, “Hey it’s me Kenny. I just got back from snowshoeing and I made you this album. I hope it warms your heart like a hot mug full of mulled wine. I’m gonna go chop some wood now. Keep cozy.”

#4 Leap Of Faith We have a feeling this was also Kenny’s Christmas card that year.

#3 We have no words. No words for this one.

At #2 is Keep the Fire Burning. We actually kind of love this one because it looked like it was the inspiration to the movie poster for Labrinyth.

And our #1 Kenny Loggins album cover is: The Original Album Cover For Return to Pooh Corner.

The album looks like it should be the recipient of the Caldecott Medal. Seriously, it looks like the book cover of at least 10 books we read as kids. The moon in the “o” in Loggins, the magical pond that allows Kenny to see himself as a child, the weird poncho thing he has going on, and of course the unironic use of unicorns. We know the songs were meant for kids, but we can’t believe that no one said, “Hey K. Loggs, you’re heading into the Danger Zone with this album cover”. See what we did there?
